On Thursday, September 10, Pleasant View Christian School inducted ten new students to the American Christian Honor Society, raising the number to 26 members for the school year. Together, the members have an overall GPA average of 3.9 and are required to maintain a minimum GPA of 3.5, remain in good standing for behavior, and participate in service projects throughout the year.
Honor Society members invited family and friends to witness their induction and ceremony with Eric Thomsen, the Managing Editor of One Magazine, addressing students and guests on the importance of standing out. Mr. Thomsen noted the growth at PVCS since his daughter was a student and the importance of standing out for Christ in the world both as people and a student body.
The student-led ceremony continued as new members lit a candle representing spiritual qualities, character, leadership, scholarship, and service while members read the meaning behind each candle and what it represents.
Honor Society members are committed to many service project hours throughout the year, including working on campus events, coordinating and leading Operation Christmas Child, brainstorming and organizing service projects throughout the year, and ending the year with a Leadership Conference where they collaborate with other honor society groups associated with the Tennessee Association of Christian Schools and the AACS Honor Society.
Senior Ela Chambers was nominated as president, and senior Garyn Chance was selected as vice president. Leland Ervin will serve as secretary, while London Royalty will take on the role of treasurer.
